Sony Corporation Bids on Jackson Film Rights
The movie studio reportedly made a multimillion-dollar bid for a film using the star’s comeback concert rehearsal footage.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Sony Corporation’s movie studio has reportedly placed a bid on rights to a film based on Michael Jackson’s rehearsal footage from the concert he was set to begin before his sudden death. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the entertainment company has made a bid of $50 million for distribution rights worldwide for the film.
As noted in the report, several studios including Paramount and Universal were shown footage before the bidding began. Entertainment lawyer and former MGM executive Mark Fleischer is quoted by the AP as stating of the future film, “This type of a story, if put together right, could be very compelling and draw a very, very wide audience.”
