Obama Campaigns for Health Care Reform
The president seeks support for controversial health care measure.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – President Barack Obama sought support Wednesday for getting a major health care measure passed through Congress. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Obama pushed for health care reform during a news conference, citing it as being necessary for strengthening the economy.
Obama is quoted by the AP as stating during the news conference Wednesday, which was shown on prime-time television, “…we will not be able to control our deficit. If we do not reform health care, your premiums and out-of-pocket costs will continue to skyrocket.” Obama is further quoted as stating of seeking universal health care coverage for Americans, “This debate is not a game for these Americans, and they cannot afford to wait for reform any longer… They are looking to us for leadership. And we must not let them down.”
