Yahoo Xoopit Acquisition
The Internet Company has reportedly confirmed their acquisition of Xoopit.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Internet giant Yahoo is set to acquire web photo application provider Xoopit. As reported by NewsFactor.com, the acquisition is expected to expand photo sharing and organization capabilities for users of Yahoo Mail.
Bryan Lamkin, Yahoo applications vice president is quoted in the report as stating of the acquisition, “With the integration of Xoopit’s platform technology and capabilities, the task of sending photos via e-mail will be as easy as it should be, and sharing photo albums with friends and family members will also be a cinch… Just imagine having a tool that collects all the photos you’ve sent and received over the years into that scrapbook you’ve never had time to assemble.”
As noted in the report, the acquisition may affect certain applications for user’s of Google’s Gmail, due to Xoopit also being a provider of a web application for Yahoo’s rival site.
