The country reportedly expressed being open to talks about its nuclear weapon program.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – North Korea has reportedly expressed being open to discussions with the U.S. regarding nuclear weapon issues. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Pyongyang’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement Monday saying as tensions brew following an unapproved nuclear test and missile launches by the nation, “There is a specific and reserved form of dialogue that can address the current situation.”
As noted in the report, despite the call for a dialogue, North Korea refused to return to a six-nation forum on nuclear issues, which it quit in April. Hillary Rodham Clinton, U.S. Secretary of State, is quoted by the AP as stating on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday of the needed dialogue, “the six-party talk framework, which had everybody included, is the appropriate way to engage with North Korea.”
