Sarkozy Collapses While Running
The French president collapsed during a jog and was given medical attention.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – The President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy was hospitalized Sunday after collapsing during a run. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the 54-year-old president, who was out jogging around the Chateau of Versailles when the incident occurred, was flown to a military hospital and kept overnight for testing, but is said to be doing well.
The Elysee Palace is quoted in the report as releasing the statement, “Today, late in the morning, while he was jogging in the park at the Chateau of Versailles, the president of the republic felt unwell. This episode, which came after 45 minutes of intense physical activity, was not accompanied by a loss of consciousness.”
Patrick Balkany, a friend of the president is quoted by the AP as stating while on a radio station of his status, “He’s doing well. He’s hungry. He’s grousing, so everything’s OK.” According to French Health Ministry Roselyne Bachelot, who reportedly spoke of the incident on French 2 television live, Sarkozy suffered a small vasovagal episode, which can cause a person to lose consciousness temporarily, but is not serious.
