The Senator is set to resign from her post to put more focus on running for Texas governor.

Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Republican Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson of Texas is reportedly set to resign from her post within a few months. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, Hutchinson is leaving the Senate to put more focus on running for Texas governor.

As noted in the report, Hutchinson is seeking to challenge longtime governor of the state and fellow Republican, Rick Perry, for her party’s nomination. Bruce Buchanan, a political science professor at the University of Texas, is quoted by the Dallas Morning News as stating of Hutchinson’s resignation plans, “She feels to have a chance to unhorse Perry she’s got to come into the state and make a full court press… She’s coming out with both six-guns blazing, so it looks like it’s going to be a rough fight.”
