Many Still In the Dark About Twitter

Many are reportedly unsure of what the social networking phenomenon is.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – A new study has found that many people remain in the dark about what Twitter is. As reported by the Los Angeles Times, despite many advertisers viewing the social networking phenomenon as highly valuable, a poll by the LinkedIn Research Network/Harris has found that 69 percent of adults in the United States surveyed claim to know little about the service.
As further noted in the report, of those who did have some knowledge of the service, several believed it was kid oriented. Twitter reportedly has expressed intentions to restructure their homepage to provide a better understanding of its purpose for new visitors. Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter, is quoted by the Times as stating to AllThingsD, “You can try it out without having to sign up, so you can get an idea of what Twitter is before you use it… We need to do a better job of explaining ourselves to people who hear about us and then have no idea what do to.”
