CNN news anchor Lou Dobbs tests network with recent reports.

Lou Dobbs’ birther focus brings controversy for CNN.

Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Longtime CNN network anchor Lou Dobbs has recently drawn in substantial criticism for heavy focus on those who say President Barack Obama was not born in the United States on his program. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Dobbs posed challenges to his network with unpopular reports on “birthers” which believe the president is not eligible to hold his position. The reports are stated to be a stretch from CNN’s typical reporting style, which is regarded as unbiased.

As noted in the report, the Southern Poverty Law Center and Media Matters for America are two organizations that are now calling for Dobbs’ program to be taken off of the air. Brooks Jackson, a former correspondent with CNN is quoted in the report as stating of the controversy, “He’s embarrassed himself and he’s embarrassed CNN… And that’s not a good thing for any network that wants to be seen as a reputable, nonpartisan news organization.”

However, some maintain that the controversy will not hurt Dobbs’ future with CNN. CNN U.S. President Jon Klein is quoted in the report as stating, “He brings more than three decades of experience reporting and broadcasting the news… and that’s very valuable to a news network.”
