Iran Arrests Three Americans for Illegal Entry
Three Americans have reportedly been arrested in the country and may possibly be accused of spying.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Three American tourists have been arrested in Iran for illegal entry into the country. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd, and Joshua Fattal were said to have mistakenly crossed the border while hiking.
Authorities are reportedly deciding whether to charge the individuals with spying. A Khabar TV news report, is quoted by the AP as stating, “While BBC said they were mountain hikers, some Web sites say they were journalists… Since occupation of Iraq by the U.S.-led forces, American journalists in Iraq have traveled to neighboring countries illegally.”
Family and friends of the travelers have reportedly stated the three had gone into the area by accident while on a hike.
