Dallas May Get Out of Zoo Business
The city is set to consider a plan that will allow it to opt out of maintain control of its zoo.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – The City of Dallas may reportedly relinquish control of its zoo to cut costs. As reported by CBS 11 News, council members are set to consider a proposal that would involve them giving control of the Dallas Zoo, which is city operated, to the Dallas Zoological Society. However, in accordance with the plan, the city would still maintain ownership of the property.
Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert is quoted as stating of the proposal, which may potentially save the city $16 million in costs over the course of five years, “it will give the zoo a better chance, I think, to raise money on a private basis, give a chance to really elevate it, see some good things happen there.”
