As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Fromme, who is currently serving a life sentence for an attempted assassination on President Gerald Ford in 1975, is scheduled to be released from a Texas prison on August 16.
As noted by the AP, Fromme received a life sentence under a special federal law, which includes provisions for assaults on presidents in the United States. She was the first to be sentenced under the law after it was enacted.
As further noted in the report, Charles Manson is currently serving a life sentence in relation to several murders in 1969 including that of actress Sharon Tate.
