Obama Makes Promise of Health Care Reform
The president promised a health care overhaul Wednesday regardless of whether he had bipartisan support.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – President Barack Obama stated Wednesday that the health care system would be reformed regardless of whether he received Republican backing. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Obama made a promise that such legislation would be passed before next year, despite GOP opposition to the plan.
Obama is quoted by the AP as stating, “I promise you, we will pass reform by the end of this year because the American people need it.” The president is further quoted as stating in a subsequent interview of continued negotiations between parties on the measure, “Sometime in September we’re going to have to make an assessment.”
As noted in the report, Obama visited Indiana Wednesday to announce $2.4 billion in grants provided to the state.
