A new study shows that aspirin may lower the risk of death in patients with colon cancer.
Press Release Service - Wired PR News – A new study shows aspirin may have additional benefits aside from helping prevent heart attacks and strokes. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), researchers have found that taking the inexpensive drug along with other colon cancer treatments may reduce risks of death in patients by 30 percent.
Study leader Dr. Andrew Chan of Harvard Medical School in Boston is quoted by the AP as stating of the findings, “This is certainly something patients would want to discuss with their doctors.” Chan is further quoted as stating, “It’s exciting that an inexpensive, commonly used medication may be of benefit among this group of patients who are worried about having their cancer recur.”
More information about the study may be found in Wednesday’s publication of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
