An 86 year-old woman gets two days in jail for her 61st shoplifting offense.
Press Release Service - Wired PR News – An 86 year-old woman who was arrested for her 61st shoplifting offense this month had her day in court early this week. As reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, Ella Orko pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor Monday after being charged for attempting to shoplift from a store. She received a sentence of two days in jail.
As noted in the report, Orko entered the courtroom in a wheelchair and claimed to be unable to hear the words of the judge during her sentencing, prompting him step down to be in front of her while taking her plea. Judge Marvin P. Luckman is quoted in the report as stating of his skepticism about her condition, “I’ve been doing this for a lot of years… She’s an actress.”
