More Parents Using Sitter Swaps to Save Money
Baby-sitting co-ops become more popular as a number of economic factors affect families financially.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – More families are utilizing baby-sitting co-ops in order to save in these recession filled times. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the economic downturn has led to an increase in interest in websites and other resources that aid in helping parents find or form co-ops in the areas in which they live.
Gary Myers of Smart Mom’s Babysitting Co-op is quoted by the AP as stating, “Most moms have one or two people that are good friends, that are sitters, and a co-op is just like having 10 or 12… The important thing for a mom is that her kids are watched, and are safe and it’s a good care environment.”
Stay at home mother Mary Pugh is further quoted as stating of her co-op arrangement, “Just that sense of relief that there’s just one thing we don’t have to budget for, we don’t have to worry about… This is nice because we still have so many student loans and lots of things to pay off.”
