Kennedy Requests Speedy Replacement Process
The ailing Senator has requested that Massachusetts legislators change a law to expedite the process of finding his replacement in Congress.

Kennedy, who is battling brain cancer, has written a letter to Massachusetts leaders requesting a change of law that would enable a faster process for replacing him in the Senate. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Kennedy’s request comes during a massive debate on proposed health care reform in the country, which is an important cause for the senator.
Kennedy is quoted by the AP as writing in the letter, “it is vital for this commonwealth to have two voices speaking for the needs of its citizens and two votes in the Senate during the approximately five months between a vacancy and an election.”
