Nokia is set to launch its own laptop line.

The largest cell phone maker in the world will soon add laptops to their list of products.

Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Electronics giant, Nokia, recently announced that it is about to launch their first laptop computer model, as reported by the Associated Press (AP). The small lightweight design will run on Microsoft Windows software, and will include a built in GPS navigation chip. The price of the Nokia Booklet 3G will be revealed Sept. 2, along with its anticipated launch date. The model will also include a 10-inch monitor, Ovi Map’s software, and an aluminum cover.

As noted in the report, Nokia, the world’s largest maker of cellular devices, stated that the Nokia Booklet 3G will “satisfy a need” amongst wireless providers. The company reportedly sold off its computer branch in 1991, and was not successful with previous efforts to sell a tablet computer. The company is now seeking to branch out beyond its cellular success, and enter the arena with an original Nokia computer product.

The new laptop will compare to the PC models already being sold by leading wireless carriers such as Sprint Nextel, and Verizon.
