A new study suggests that people who regularly perform multiple tasks at a time normally do not do it very well.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – A new study proposes that people who regularly multitask have yet to master it. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the worst multitaskers are said to be those who do it most often.
Standford communications professor Clifford Nass is quoted by the AP as stating, “The huge finding is, the more media people use the worse they are at using any media. We were totally shocked.” Nass is further quoted as stating of the unanswered question of why this is so, “Is multitasking causing them to be lousy at multitasking, or is their lousiness at multitasking causing them to be multitaskers… Is it born or learned?”
More information about the study findings may be available in Tuesday’s release of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
