YouTube Promotes Ad Program
The video sharing site is seeking to offset losses with a new sales focus.
Press Release Service - Wired PR News – YouTube has shifted its focus from attracting a wider audience to earning more revenue. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the popular video sharing site is now putting more emphasis on its ad program, recruiting more creators of the video clips uploaded to the site to participate in advertising.
As noted in the report, the program has so far generated little profit with the company’s previous strategy of waiting until users to apply to the program. The change will reportedly involve identification and active recruitment of video creators with widely watched videos, alerting them to the opportunities available for advertising on their clip pages. Video makers will reportedly receive the majority of the revenue generated from ads placed with their clips.
