Lifetime to Go to AETN
Lifetime will reportedly be acquired by the network by the year’s end.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – AETN is expected to acquire Lifetime Entertainment Services. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the acquisition is expected to take place by the end of the year. The Walt Disney Co. and Hearst Corp. are currently co-owners of Lifetime.
Miller Tabak and Co analyst David Joyce is quoted by the AP as stating of the acquisition, “There’s incremental streamlining of the operations, which could result in better margins and more of a stake in those cable networks over time… It doesn’t move the needle for Disney in the grand scheme of things but it would skew positive.”
As noted in the report, the deal is expected to result in lower costs for the joint venture, and also add benefits for shareholders of Disney.
