New Yorkers Hold Jackson Birthday Celebration
Thousands attend a celebration for the late entertainer in New York.
Press Release – Wired PR News – Many fans of Michael Jackson turned out to honor him on what would have been the late singer’s 51st birthday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), thousands of New Yorkers attended a birthday bash for Jackson, hosted by Spike Lee, on Saturday.
Lee, a filmmaker who has directed videos for Jackson, is quoted by the AP as stating of the entertainer, “I was just like everyone else. I loved his talent.”
Brooklyn borough president Marty Markowitz is further quoted in the report as stating of the celebration, “We all know Michael Jackson had fans around the world, but we all know the best fans come from Brooklyn.” The day was reportedly memorialized in Jackson’s honor.
The event took place in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park.
