Homeless Blogger Gets Big Break

A homeless blogger was recently given a new internship and blogging job with Elle.
Press Release Service –Wired PR News – A woman who became homeless after losing her job in July recently turned her misfortune into a golden opportunity. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Brianna Karp, who was living in her truck following the loss of her position with Kelley Blue Book, was offered an internship and blog writing job for Elle magazine.
Karp is quoted by the AP as stating of the increase in popularity of her blog, girlsguidetohomelessness.com, which helped her land the opportunity, “I was definitely surprised just how many homeless and former homeless people are online and using social media to seek opportunities.”
E. Jean Carroll, popular Elle advice columnist who gave Karp the internship opportunity, is further quoted as stating, “You hear stories which break your heart, smash your heart up that you’ve got to see what you can do… This is certainly one tiny little thing, but I think her voice is a very important one, and it’s not heard. We’re going to try to get her on her feet.”
