The president will give a speech to Congress on the issue of health care reform next week.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – President Barack Obama is set to address Congress next week on health care reform. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the speech, scheduled for next Wednesday following the return of lawmakers from recess, is deemed part of an effort to gain control over the health care debate amid numerous attacks from Republican opponents.
David Axelrod, senior advisor for the White House, is quoted by the AP as stating of next week’s meeting, “We believe this is the best way to kick off the final discussions, the final debate, and bring this thing to a close in a way that is meaningful.” Axelrod further remarked that Obama’s speech will provide, “a clear sense of what he proposes and what health care reform is not.”
