Obama Adviser Resigns Due to Controversy

Van Jones has reportedly resigned amid controversy over past remarks.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – White House green jobs adviser, Van Jones, has reportedly resigned from the post due to controversy over statements he made prior to joining the administration. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Jones was accused of making derogatory comments about Republicans and putting his name on a petition requesting an investigation into a possible government role in the Sept.11 attacks.
Jones is quoted by the AP as commenting in a statement of the controversy, “On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me… They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide.”
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs is further quoted as stating of Jones’ resignation to ABC’s “This Week,” “What Van Jones decided was that the agenda of this president was bigger than any one individual.”
