Wal-Mart Beats Tiffany in Poll

A recent poll suggests Americans have become less materialistic after some where shown to choose Wal-Mart items over Tiffany luxury ones.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Americans have become less materialistic amid the recession as suggested by a recent poll. As reported by Reuters, the survey of more than 40,000 adults found a high percentage of participants were giving away some of their material possessions without choosing to replace them. Also, a majority of those asked if they would choose a $500 Tiffany purchase over a $250 Wal-Mart discount retail store purchase of a similar item, an overwhelming majority responded they would choose the discounted item.
John Zogby of Zogby Interactive, which polled the respondents, is quoted by Reuters as stating of the results, “People are moving toward a simpler, less materialistic lifestyle… I call them Secular Spiritualists because they are looking for more meaning in their lives, and will seek it through family, friends, volunteering and leisure activities that fulfill their needs.”
