Concerns Over Filet-O-Fish Resource

Many are concerned over the fate of the hoki fish.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – The management of the catch commonly found in McDonald’s popular fish sandwich, the Filet-O-Fish, is currently a source of major controversy. As reported by The New York Times, commercial groups, environmental agencies, and others are involved in serious debate over the management of the hoki, or whiptail fish, which some are saying are being overfished and no longer in great supply.
Peter Trout is quoted in the report as stating of the mismanagement issue, “We have major concerns” citing ecosystem damage as one of several problems depletion of the resource has been linked to. Trout is further quoted as stating, “We are currently working with both industry and government to rectify all these issues… Our hope is that we will see great change and willingness by industry and, importantly, government to improve the situation dramatically.”
