Man Admits to Illegally Dumping Asbestos
A New Jersey man has admitted to illegally dumping asbestos in a field.
Mesothelioma Cancer News – A New Jersey man has admitted to illegally dumping tons of asbestos in a farm field. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), 55 year-old John Deck stated to authorities that he obtained a false permit for truckers to dump materials that contained asbestos into an illegal landfill, which has now been made into a federal Superfund site.
As noted by the AP, Deck could receive up to five years in prison as well as a $250,000 fine for his actions. He also pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiracy charges pertaining to wire fraud. He is set to be sentenced in January in federal court.
As further noted by the AP, there continues to be an ongoing investigation into the matter.
