Sales of Video Games Continues Decline

Video games sales in the U.S. have been on a 6 month downward spiral.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Sales of video games in the U.S. have reportedly continued to fall for six consecutive months. As reported by AFP, statistics from the NPD Group have shown a steady decline in the sale of gaming hardware and software after the release of data on August purchases.
NPD analyst Anita Frazier is quoted in the report as stating of the findings, “The industry realized its sixth consecutive month-over-month decline, and while improved over the last several months, it’s still a notable decline.”
Frazier is further quoted by AFP to state of the need for a dramatic improvement to match the total number of sales from last year, “The back four months of the year would have to be up 14 percent in aggregate for 2009 to come in flat in comparison to 2008 sales.”
Analysts speculate that the upcoming releases of two new video games, “Beatles: Rock Band” and “Guitar Hero 5,” may help improve the atmosphere.
