Wired PR News - Press Release Getting divorced prompted one man to start a dating service for users of social networking sites.

Press Release Service – Wired PR News – A new online dating service provides users of social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter with the opportunity to learn more about potential matches, via access to what they share online. As reported by AFP, Gelatodating.com, launched by Steve Odom, allows users to see the online social networking activities of those they may want to be matched with, to see if common interests are shared.

As noted by AFP, Odom launched the website after getting divorced and finding attempts to utilize several current online dating services unsuccessful. Odom is quoted in the report as stating of the experience, “It resulted in a lot of dates without much of a connection… At the same time I started on Twitter and liked the idea of following someone for a lot of weeks; I felt I got to know them.”

Odom is further quoted as stating of the market for his service, “Gelato sucks in stuff from Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm… it’s authentic and what I’m doing on the Web… I think Gelato will appeal to that younger, hyper-connected crowd living their lives online. Eventually, it will be a mainstream thing.” He further notes, “It is sort of lonely being single… We are trying to create a community where you can see what other singles are doing and thinking.”
