Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Drinking water in schools across the nation has been found to contain unsafe toxin levels. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), a recent investigation by the news source of public and private schools in each state uncovered a widespread issue of water contamination within schools systems.

Virginia Tech engineer Marc Edwards is quoted by the AP as stating of the issue, “It’s an outrage… If a landlord doesn’t tell a tenant about lead paint in an apartment, he can go to jail. But we have no system to make people follow the rules to keep school children safe?”

Many are calling for improved government monitoring and better practices that will prevent such widespread water safety violations. California Sen. Barbara Boxer, Democratic chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, is quoted in the report as stating, “There is just no excuse for this. Period… We want to make sure that we fix this problem in a way that it will never happen again, and we can ensure parents that their children will be safe.”
