Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Singer and actress Mariah Carey, whose album “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” and new film “Precious” are both due to be released in November, recently discussed the connection between her album title and filming the movie. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Carey stated in an interview that dressing down for her unglamorous role as a social worker in “Precious” helped her shed insecurities and become comfortable with the imperfections of life.

Carey is quoted by the AP as stating of the role, “That was such a freeing experience for me… By making me look so bad he brought out the ability to never be self-conscious again, and that was a gift that he gave me.”

Carey is further quoted as stating, “I don’t feel like, ‘Oh, I have to be on this side, or I have to be on this side — I really had specific things that someone told me when I was 19 starting in the business and I listened to them. … I don’t care anymore.”

The Lee Daniels directed film “Precious,” for which Carey has already gotten critical praise, is set to open November 6.
