Toyota Massive Recall
The automaker is recalling millions of its vehicles to due floor mat defects.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Toyota Motor Corp. has announced plans for the largest recall it has ever had in the U.S. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the company is recalling 3.8 million vehicles in the country due to issues with floor mats, which may potentially cause accelerators to stick and drivers to crash.
Toyota spokesman Irv Miller is quoted in the report as stating of the potential hazard, “A stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop a vehicle, which could cause a crash, serious injury or death.”
As noted by the AP, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Transportation Secretary is further quoted as stating of the recall, “This is an urgent matter …For everyone’s sake, we strongly urge owners of these vehicles to remove mats or other obstacles that could lead to unintended acceleration.”
