Several Dallas school district (DISD) Students Sent Home After Lacking Required Vaccinations

A number of students in the Dallas school district and surrounding areas were sent home after not meeting the deadline for receiving required vaccinations.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Several students within the Dallas Independent School District (DISD) were sent home on Thursday for not having received required immunizations. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, DISD was one of several school districts throughout North Texas who turned away students who had yet to receive the proper vaccinations.
As noted in the report, the initial Aug. 24 deadline was extended until Sept. 30 due to a vaccine shortage and the need to allow sufficient time for schools to alert parents of the new state requirements. However, many parents admittedly overlooked letters reminding them of the deadline, or made attempts previously to vaccinate their children but were faced with the issue of a vaccine shortage.
