Stress Linked to Broken Heart Syndrome
Emotional stress is said to be a contributor to the serious condition.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Stress can lead to a broken heart. As reported by NBC DFW News, emotional stress experienced all of a sudden can lead to Broken Heart Syndrome, which is a condition that causes heart muscle weakening and carries similar symptoms as those experienced when having heart attack.
As noted in the report, many who experience this condition often believe they are having a heart attack. Dr. Timothy Hadden, with Forth Worth based Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, is quoted by NBC DFW News as stating, “The difference is when these people are taken to the cath lab, the arteries are normal… And so with a typical heart attack, in the cath lab you expect to find an artery with a blood clot with no flow, and in these people, the flow is perfectly fine.”
As further noted in the report, although Broken Heart Syndrome is seldom fatal, experts state fast treatment for it is necessary.
