Rapper Pleads Guilty to Assault in New York
Jim Jones pleaded guilty to assault charges on Monday.
Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Rapper Jim Jones entered a guilty plea on Monday for a misdemeanor assault in New York City. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the entertainer received a sentence of time served for punching a man during a scuffle in a Louis Vuitton store last year.
As noted by the AP, the purported victim of the assault, Jayvon Smith, is a friend of R&B singer Ne-Yo. An attorney for Jones, Scott Leemon, reportedly stated on Monday that the guilty plea was entered to prevent the rapper form being given probation, which would have possible hindered his ability to tour, and not because Jones started the fight.
As further noted in the report, a civil suit has also been filed against Jones in relation to the incident.
