A recent survey suggests many parents fear their children will suffer from hearing loss.

Many parents are worried their children may suffer from damage to their hearing from regular use of music players and other habitual forms of exposure to loud noise.

Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Many parents are reportedly worried that music players and other devices that warrant their children plugging listening devices into their ears will have damaging effects on their hearing. As reported by HealthDay News, a recent survey revealed that fear of hearing loss is high on the list of worries many parents have for their children today.

Dr. David Tunkel, with Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore, is quoted in the report as stating of a basis for many parental fears, “We certainly are seeing more and more children who seem to have acquired hearing loss.”

As noted in the report, experts recommend that steps some parents can take to help prevent hearing loss in their children include providing education on that which can be brought on by noise and using protective gear at rock concerts or in extremely noisy situations.
