Elvis’ hair up for auction

Fans of The King will soon have the chance to bid on pieces of his famous mane.
Chicago, Illinois (WiredPRNews.com) – A Chicago auction house is putting Elvis Presely’s hair up for sale. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Leslie Hindman Auctioneers will put the hair along with over 200 other items connected to the late entertainer on the auction block Sunday.
As noted by the AP, the collection previously belonged to Gary Pepper, a former Presely fan club member who died in 1980. Pepper willed the items to his nurse, who has now decided to put them up for sale.
Mary Williams, of the auction house, is quoted in the report as stating of potential buyers for The King’s hair, “The industry of hair collecting has blown up… There’s an interest in owning a piece of a celebrity. There’s a possibility that people think you could clone people from hair.”
