Health reform gains Republican supporter
Maine Republican Olympia Snowe declared support for proposed health care legislation Tuesday.
Washington, D.C. (WiredPRNews.com) – The move towards overhauling the country’s health care system got a big push on Tuesday with a first show of Republican support. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Republican Senator Olympia Snowe of Maine, declared support for historic health care legislation in a 14-9 vote by the Senate Finance Committee.
Snowe is quoted by the AP as stating of opting to support the bill, despite finding flaws within it, “We should also contemplate the decades of inaction that have brought us to this crossroads…The status quo approach has produced one glaring common denominator, that is that we have a problem that is growing worse, not better.”
As noted by the AP, the full Senate is expected to begin debating proposed health care issues in the next couple of weeks.
