Schwarzenegger calls out wife on legal mistake
The California First Lady was reportedly caught driving while talking on her cell phone.
Los, Angeles, California (WiredPRNews.com) - Maria Shriver, wife of California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has been singled out for violating a state law. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Shriver was caught on camera driving while using her cell phone, which entertainment news site TMZ posted online. The act is reportedly a violation of a law signed by the governor.
As noted in the report, although Shriver’s office refused to comment on the situation, the governor commented about the photographs on Twitter to Harvey Levin, founder of TMZ. Schwarzenegger is quoted by the AP as stating, “Thanks for bringing her violations to my attention. There’s going to be swift action.”
As further noted by the AP, the California law, which was put into affect last year, makes it illegal to use a cell phone while driving a car unless a hands free device is used. Since July, more than 150,000 citations have reportedly been given out to violators by highway patrolmen alone. Shriver, who lives in Brentwood, could have faced fines of up to $93 for a first offense and $201 for a second offense. Schwarzenegger has reportedly stated previously that his 16-year-old daughter would be taking the bus if she is ever caught violating the new law.
