Senator John Kerry has been labeled an all around advisor to the president on major global issues.
Washington, D.C. (WiredPRNews.com) – Senator John Kerry has been labeled an unofficial all-around advisor to President Barack Obama on a range of issues including foreign policy. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the senator’s role has expanded significantly following his mediation efforts for Afghanistan’s presidential election.
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs is quoted by the AP as stating of Kerry, “Obviously, Sen. Kerry is somebody who has a broad range of experience and an in-depth knowledge of issues, ranging from energy and climate change to health care to foreign policy… I think it’s that experience and insight that (Obama) certainly greatly values.”
David Gergen, director of the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard University, is further quoted in the report as stating of the uniqueness of Kerry’s role, “It’s extremely rare that any president calls on an individual outside the executive branch to do as much representative work and diplomacy as Sen. Kerry.”
