Public option to be part of Senate bill

The Senate health care bill will reportedly include a public option.
Washington, D.C. (WiredPRNews.com) – A public option will reportedly be included in a health care bill that will soon be taken to the Senate floor. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Majority Leader Harry Reid announced the plans Monday to include the controversial option in the legislation.
Reid is quoted by the AP as stating of the issue, “While the public option is not a silver bullet, I believe it’s an important way to ensure competition and to level the playing field for patients with the insurance industry.”
The White House is further quoted in the report as stating that President Barack Obama, who has been a strong advocate for a public option inclusion is, “pleased that the Senate has decided to include a public option for health coverage, in this case with an allowance for states to opt out.”
