A man in Illinois admitted to accepting paychecks from a company in New Jersey that he was never employed by.
Somerville, N.J. (WiredPRNews.com) – An Illinois man has admitted to accepting thousands of dollars in payroll checks from a New Jersey company he was never employed by. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Anthony Armatys entered a guilty plea Monday on charges of theft in New Jersey Superior Court.
As noted by the AP, Armatys reportedly accepted a position offered by Avaya Inc., based in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and subsequently changed his mind, but was kept on the telecommunication company’s payroll despite never taking the job. He received paycheck deposits into his account for over four years before the mistake was discovered.
As further noted in the report, Armatys is set to be sentenced on January 8.
