Holiday season critical for game publishers
This holiday season is reportedly a critical one for publishers of video games.
San Francisco, CA (WiredPRNews.com) – The holiday shopping season has arrived, and is expected to be a critical one for publishers of video games. As reported by Reuters, many game publishers are hoping that new releases will boost sales and make up for the less than desirable numbers seen this year so far.
Jesse Divnich, an EDAR research group analyst, is quoted by Reuters as stating, “There’s a dark cloud hanging over the industry because of the recession, and people wonder if consumers are going to be there this holiday season.”
As noted in the report, NPD research group previously reported that the video game industry did see a sales increase in September after months of decreases; however, the change was a very small one.
