Illinois (WiredPRNews.com) – A jilted bride found a way to turn her heartbreak into something special for a group of individuals she didn’t even know. As reported by the NY Daily News, Teanne Harris, donated her wedding reception to members of a retirement community after her finance decided not to go through with the wedding plans.
Mary Eichenfeld, the resident services director of the Des Plaines, Illinois based Asbury Court Retirement Community, is quoted in the report as stating of the gift, “She came in one day and said she wanted to make a donation… I don’t think she knew anybody here, and we don’t get offers like that. So we were thrilled and so were our residents. It came out of the blue.” Eichenfield further noted, “She came to the party and while I saw her smiling, I’m sure she was feeling pretty bad.
Harris’ mother Bari is quoted by the NY Daily News as stating of her daughter’s donation, “Yes, there’s mixed emotion… It could have been a lot worse, just sitting at home, knowing that nothing was used.”
