‘Golden Girls’ star recovering from heart surgery
Actress Rue McClanahan recovers after having heart bypass surgery in New York.
New York (WiredPRNews.com) – Star of the hit 80s - 90s sitcom, “The Golden Girls,” Rue McClanahan is reportedly recovering after having heart bypass surgery. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), McClanahan is said to be doing well following the surgery in a hospital in New York City.
McClanahan, 75, is quoted by the AP as releasing the statement regarded having to miss a tribute in her honor in San Francisco, “Unfortunately, my doctor has laid down the law, and I’m currently in the hospital having some maintenance on the old ticker…Trust me, I’d much rather be in San Francisco having fun and being adored by all of you.”
Although appearing in several programs and off-Broadway productions, McClanahan is best known for playing Blanche Devereaux on the NBC sitcom “The Golden Girls.”
