Fasting may aid in weight loss for obese
A new study suggests fasting may help adults who are obese with weight loss.
New York (WiredPRNews.com) – A new study proposes that weight loss for obese adults may be helped with fasting. As reported by Reuters, the study suggests that fasting every other day may help facilitate weight loss in obese individuals even if they ate regularly on non-fasting days.
Dr. Krista A. Varady of the University of Illinois at Chicago is quoted by Reuters as stating of the findings of her and her colleagues after examining the results of participants from an eight week period, “People lost anywhere from about 7 pounds to about 30 pounds and that was in a very short amount of time.”
More information about the study may be found in the November 2009 publication of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
