Twitter changes user list plans
The site halts plans to continue displaying a suggested user list amid controversy.
PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia (WiredPRNews.com) – Twitter has put a stop to plans for the continued presentation of a suggested user list for followers. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the company founder stated this week to reporters in Maylasia that Twitter would be developing a different means of showcasing its prominent posters, such as politicians and celebrities, following controversy over the idea of selecting influential users to be placed on a list for introduction to new site users.
Founder Biz Stone is quoted by the AP as stating of the plans, “That list will be going away…In its stead will be something that is more programmatically chosen, something that actually delivers more relevant suggestions.”
As noted in the report, some in the political arena voiced complaints that the hand picked list showed favoritism of Democrats over Republicans.
