Residents in battle over right to hang laundry
The right to hang laundry to dry outside of their homes has become a growing issue for many U.S. residents.
Perkasie, Pennsylvania (WiredPRNews.com) – Many U.S. residents are finding themselves in a fight for the right to hang laundry outside of their homes to dry. As reported by Reuters, officials and neighbors of these residents in a number of areas have frowned upon the practice, and have taken measures to try and force it to stop.
Carin Froehlich, a Perkasie, Pennsylvania resident, is quoted in the report as stating of receiving anonymous letters from neighbors about drying her clothes outside, “They said it made the place look like trailer trash… They said they didn’t want to look at my ‘unmentionables.”
As noted by Reuters, groups like Project Laundry List are advocating for the rights of individuals like Froehlich to use the energy saving method to dry their clothes because of the benefits it has for the environment.
