India Prime Minister honored guest at first state dinner
The White House gala included a host of celebrities and other notable guests.
Washington (WiredPRNews.com) – President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed guests at Tuesday’s first state dinner of the current administration to an Indian themed soiree. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), India Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was an honored guest at the event, which boasted a string of Hollywood celebrities and other noted individuals.
As noted by the AP, included on the menu were green curry and pumpkin. Among the 339 guests were Attorney General Eric Holder, Steven Spielberg. U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, spiritual adviser Deepak Chopra, director M. Night Shyamalan, and singer-actress Jennifer Hudson, who delivered a performance for the event.
White House social secretary Desiree Rogers, is quoted by the AP as stating upon her arrival, “Everyone looks great; we’re feeling great.”
