Macy’s parade takes new route
Participants in this year’s annual parade are expected to chart a new course.
New York (WiredPRNews.com) – Participants in this year’s annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will reportedly be taking a new route. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the route will for the first time in over 80 years not include its usual cut through Manhattan via Broadway, due to parts of it being closed, and be a somewhat longer distance than past walks.
As noted by the AP, the new route is expected to be more demanding with additional corners and turns. Brian Schwartz, a physics professor at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, is quoted in the report as stating of the challenges faced by the marching band and handlers with the new route, “There really is a lot of science” involved… “If they’re taking a new route, they’re going to have to be really careful in the turning of the corners.”
